Your smile is important for many reasons.

How you feel about your teeth can affect your self-confidence. It also can affect how often you smile or if you try to avoid smiling. If you are embarrassed by your teeth, you may be hesitant to introduce yourself to a potential client or customer, to a new co-worker, or to a new neighbor.

At the same time, your smile affects how other people perceive you. If you rarely smile, people may think you are sad or angry for some reason.

If you want to project confidence and you want other people to see you as approachable and friendly, then you might want to learn about dental veneers, which you can get at our office in Novi, MI.

You can call 248-697-2487 or contact us online for more information or to set up a consultation with Dr. James C. Ross. That’s the best way to find out if veneers are right for you.

But for now, we can discuss how veneers work and some of the many ways they can improve your smile.

Why You Might Want Dental Veneers

Let’s say you have a chipped tooth, a discolored tooth, and a gap between two of your teeth.

You could get dental bonding or a dental crown to repair your chipped tooth. You could get teeth whitening to remove the stain from your teeth. And you could have orthodontic care to close the gap in your smile.

Or you could get dental veneers to address all those problems at the same time.

Veneers are one of the most versatile services that we offer. While they are often used for cosmetic dentistry, veneers also have restorative benefits as well.

Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the front of your teeth. Where other cosmetic services make changes to your teeth, veneers act sort of like the facade of a building that changes the outward appearance of your smile.

At the office of  Dr. James Ross, Family, Cosmetic & Laser Dentistry, we used e.max dental veneers for our patients. E.max veneers look like natural teeth when they are bonded in place, and they are known for their durability as well. With proper care, your e.max veneers can keep your smile looking great for decades.

How To Get Dental Veneers

If you decide that veneers are right for you after your consultation with Dr. Ross, then we can make a digital scan of your teeth. That means you won’t need to worry about gagging while holding an uncomfortable tray in your mouth to make an impression.

The scan creates a digital impression, which is used to design veneers that are custom-fitted for your smile.

With most veneers, you will need to have a layer of enamel removed from the front of your teeth to create space for your veneers to fit without affecting your profile. E.max veneers can be cut thinner than most porcelain veneers. That means you won’t need as much enamel removed (if any) to created room for your e.max veneers.

When your veneers are ready, you’ll return to our office where we will bond them to your teeth. This is a big moment for many patients. You may be surprised by how different your teeth look. We’ve had several patients cry happy tears when they’ve seen their new smiles for the first time.

Is There An Alternative To Dental Veneers?

Yes, we also offer Snap-On Smile at our office.

Like veneers, Snap-On Smile is used to conceal the things you don’t like about your smile. Where veneers are bonded to the front of your teeth, Snap-On Smile is a cover that fits over your teeth. Snap-On Smile also can be removed easily whenever you feel like doing so.

You should be aware that Snap-On Smile is not nearly as durable as veneers. These covers can last for a few years, but they will need to be replaced from time to time if you see this as a long-term option.

Some patients will start with Snap-On Smile as a cost-effective short-term solution for their smile problems. This gives them a test drive of sorts to decide if they want to get veneers later.
