Every year, millions of Americans turn to cosmetic dentistry to change their smiles. Here in Novi, MI, we see patients daily who want their teeth to look nicer.
We are happy to help. We offer a wide range of services, and we can treat a number of problems. We can do all of these things:
▶ Whiten teeth
▶ Close gaps between teeth
▶ Straighten crooked teeth
▶ Fix teeth that are chipped or broken
Our team at Dr. James Ross, Family, Cosmetic & Laser Dentistry understands that wanting to make a change to your smile and actually making that change are two different things.
Many patients are hesitant to move forward with cosmetic services. They often mention concerns about cost or making permanent changes to their smiles. Both of these are understandable worries.
It’s also why we want to tell you about a service that can help make your decision a little easier. Snap-On Smile can help you manage the costs of cosmetic care and help you decide if you want to make a long-term investment in your smile.

What Snap-On Smile Is
Snap-On Smile is a custom-fitted cover for your teeth. When it’s placed over your teeth, you can have the kind of “Hollywood smile” that you’ve seen in the movies and celebrity magazines.
The process is about as simple as it can be. Using an impression of your teeth, your Snap-On Smile is designed to fit your mouth. The cover is made with a high-tech dental resin. When this is shaped and molded, it looks like a full set of natural teeth.
In general, it takes a few weeks to create your Snap-On Smile. When it’s ready, you will return to our office, and we’ll show you how simple it is to put on and take off.
The material is durable, so you can eat and drink just like you do now. You should be aware that chewing gum and eating sticky foods are not recommended, however.
The resin is stain resistant, but like natural teeth, things like coffee, tea, and wine can cause your Snap-On Smile to gradually change color over time.
How Snap-On Smile Can Ease Concerns About Cosmetic Care
Two of our most popular cosmetic services are dental veneers and orthodontic treatments, including Invisalign® and ClearCorrect. These services can make dramatic improvements to your smile, but some people are not sure they want to make the investment to complete those treatments right away.
For a fraction of the cost, Snap-On Smile can address many of the same issues (discolored teeth, crooked teeth, gaps between teeth) as veneers and orthodontic care. You should keep in mind that a Snap-On Smile cover can last for a few years with proper care. That may give you time to save money or to decide if you want to move forward with a long-term treatment.
As we noted earlier, cost isn’t the only reason someone may be hesitant about cosmetic dentistry. Veneers and orthodontic treatments involve making changes to your teeth.
With veneers, we often need to remove a thin layer of enamel to create room for the veneers. With Invisalign or ClearCorrect, you will be physically pushing your teeth into new positions.
But with Snap-On Smile, you aren’t removing anything from your natural teeth, and you aren’t moving them either. You are simply placing a cover over your teeth to conceal them. You can decide at any time to remove your Snap-On Smile.
This can give you time to see what your smile could look like if you got veneers or tried Invisalign. Many patients use Snap-On Smile as a kind of test drive for a new smile before they take the next step.
Snap-On Smile Can Be A Long-Term Option As Well
For patients with sensitive teeth, the thought of removing enamel or pushing their teeth may be enough to stop them from making the changes they want to make.
With Snap-On Smile, they have another way of improving their smiles. Like we noted above, each cover can last for a few years. That also means you can replace your cover as needed if you so choose.
